What is Hindu Rashtra?
Asper Wikipedia Hindu Rashtra or also called Hindu nationalism have there origin from Hindutva. The Hindutva is a political ideology encompassing the cultural justification of Hindu nationalism. The Hindutva movement has been described as a variant of right wing extremists, and as almost fascist in the classical sense, adhering to a concept of homogenised majority and culture hegemony. Some analysts dispute the identification of Hindutva with fascism, and suggest Hindutva is an extreme form of conservatism or ethnic absolutism. And the Hindutva is the dominant form of Hindu nationalist politics in India, as a political ideology the Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nationalism) refers to as the expression of social and political thought, based on the native spiritual and cultural traditions of the Indian subcontinent. Rashtriya swayamsevak sangh (RSS) Sanatan Sanstha, The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) this are the leading Hindu nationalism volunteer organization.
The ideology that need to be noted there is the assertion that India is a country of the Hindus and that the true future of India lies in making a Hindu Rashtra. Other religious groups like Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains and so on will have to live in india on terms determined and dictated by the Hindus. In the name of Hindutva and Hindu Rashtra. The targets are always ordinary Muslims, who are attacked and lynched. And increasingly, almost always the victims of the violence are Muslims who therefore are seen as enemies. Murder in the name of Hindu Rashtra is becoming a way of life in democratic India. On the name of religion Minorities are witnessing increased attacks on their places of worship.
“Vinay Katiyar the former member of Rajya Sabha and also the president and founder of Bajrang dal says Muslim shouldn’t live in India”
“Raja Sing Bjp’s political leaders says I request VHP (Vishva Hindu Parishad) to provide training of Ak-47 to our young Hindus”
This are one of the hateful and controversial speech of the BJP’s political leaders. But government won’t take any contradiction over this hateful speech.
Why Modi endorse Hindu Rashtra?
Narendra Modi has never explicitly stated his views on Hindu Rashtra. However his actions as Prime Minister have been interpreted by some as a move towards a Hindu nationalist state. In 2019, Modi said that India is “nation of Hindus” but it is also a “nation of Muslims, Christians , Sikhs, jains, Buddhists and Parsis”. He said that India is a nation of all religions and “No one can divide us on the basis of religion”.
However Modi’s actions do not match his words. His government’s policies are discriminatory against Muslims and that he is using Hindutva rhetoric to divide the country. The passing of the Citizenship Amendment Act, which gives preferential treatment to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. And also the implementation of the National Register of Citizens, which is a database of all Indian citizens critics says that the NRC could be used to disenfranchise Muslims. This are some of examples of Modi’s hypocritical beliefs. As everyone knows Narendra Modi draws his ideological mooring from the RSS. Which he had joined at age 21. His education in shakhas has made him to see Indian and Hindu are synonymous and any non-Hindu as “the others”. Modi is Hindutva devotee and his political ideology continues to unnerve India’s minority groups. Under his patronage, the Hindutva forces have been regularly mocking at India’s secular constitution. The ruling party is openly and actively promoting “ghar wapsi” programmes and vigilantism against the so-called “love-jihad”. There have been increasing incidents of violence involving gau rakshaks, mostly in BJP-ruled state. The BJP argued that the majority Hindu community was being short-changed and that only the BJP would adequately protect the interests of majority Hindu. And that’s how they influence people to hook there attention towards Hindu Rashtra.
Tha BJP government has based the entire trajectory of their political rise to power on the promise of foregrounding a Hindu nation in tandem with the visceral polarisation of other communities and propaganda films are effective political weapons used to shape the ideologies of a nation. And spread hate towards that Muslims. BJP instantaneously gathered behind the film to garner mass support for it and promote it widely across all the states. Almost inevitably then, in this game of chess that political parties play, the state with opposing parties in power rose in fury and hurry to block the film from being screened. This controversy is what lent the film more visibility than perhaps it could have got initially and in this humdrum of political chaos and censorship, the factuality of the story was lost upon the audiences minds. It is commonly known that for a long time, the southern states have been a a bone of contention for BJP because it has repeatedly failed to take its root there and hence it is of no surprise that they would bank upon this film based in a southern state, religious polarisation being one of their primary weapons in their hold over power.
How Hindu extremists using terrorism to convey there message?
The world’s attention has properly been focused on the violence of Islamic extremists, but there are also major violence trends in Hindu extremists that have been interpreted by international media. In India this violence is supported by Hindu extremists and their allies in the Indian Constitution, which is currently led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Under Yogi Adityanath, who is currently the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, there is instances of police brutality (popularly known as encounter killings) against Muslims and Dalits (so called untouchables) in influence of false accusations. Speaking about Muslims women protest against discriminatory legislation in 2020, Adityanath asked his followers to “feed them bullets, not biryani”.
Back in October, 2007, bombs ripped throughout the courtyard of what is without dispute south Asia’s most popular Muslim religious center the shrine that commemorate chrishti’s life at ajmer sharif, in Rajasthan. Muslims religious center the shrine that commemorate chrishti’s life at ajmer sharif, in Rajasthan. For months, police believed that attacks had been carried out by islamist group who opposed the shrine’s syncretic message. On April 30, 2010, however Rajasthan police investigators investigators arrested the man they say purchased the mobile phone subscriber-identification modules (SIM) used to trigger the attack. Devendra Gupta a long standing worker of Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was held along with his political association Vishnu Prasad and Chandrashekhar Patidar. This all three men were thought to have participated in the bombing of the Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad. During the celebration of Ram Navami in jharkhand’s koderma district, young people were joyfully participants in the festivities by singing and dancing on the streets. However some of theme were using offensive language towards Muslims. The leader of an ashram, Anupam Mishra, who is popularly known as Bajrang Muni made disturbing threats about raping Muslim women, which received support from his followers. Another individual named Sadhvi Saraswati encouraged Hindus to gather weapons and called for public execution of those who consume beef. Although Indian government won’t take any litigation over this kind of statements.
What are the potential consequences of establishing a Hindu Rashtra in India?
There’s a quote from Dr. B.R. ambedkar, says
“If Hindu Rashtra does become a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country No matter what the Hindus say. Hinduism is a menace to liberty equality and fraternity. On that account it is incompatible with democracy. Hindu Raj must be prevented at any cost.”
Even in 1940’s the voices of Hindutva and Hindu Rashtra were raised back then, B.R. Ambedkar strongly opposed the concept of Hindutva and Hindu Rashtra and called it a threat to the country and democracy. Hindu Rashtra contributed big threats to constitution of India, the idea of Hindu Rashtra goes against the principles of secularism enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Any attempt to establish a religious state could undermine the country’s democratic fabric, rule of law, and equality before the law. The ancient Hindu text will be the contributor to the construction of a State and laws will based on these texts, if India becomes a Hindu Rashtra. The Hindu extremists use B.R. Ambedkar’d words manipulate them and try to convey people to get support for Hindu Rashtra. For instance way back in 2003 it was Vinay Katiyar, the former head of Bajrang Dal and a diehard product of RSS cadres, who first declared that B.R. Ambedkar was a great supporter of both Hindutva and the Hindu Rashtra, just like KB Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS.
The attempt at hijacking of Dr. Ambedkar has accelerated with the coming to power of the RSS-BJP combine in India in 2014. True to its tradition, RSS-sponsored ‘think tank and thinkers’ have started manufacturing their version of a manipulated history. They have predictably but no less gone to the extent of putting words in Ambedkar’s mouth and attributing to him, Ambedkar words that he neither spoke, wrote or believed. Dr. Ambedkar never spoke word in behalf of Hindutva’s favour in fact ambedkar one’s stated that
“First of all we have to aspect there is no such thing like sanatani culture or Hindu (dharma) religion, this is a flock of many religions”
The idea of Hindu Rashtra is becoming universal accepted within India, even among Hindus. It could lead to internal divisions within society, including among Hindu communities themselves, as differing interpretations of Hinduism and its role in governance emerge. Scholars argued that majority of Hindu community was being short-changed and that only the BJP would adequately protect the interests of majority Hindu population.
